What has changed that now allows me to pick my Local telephone company?
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently deregulated the local telephone industry, opening it up to competition. Now, for the first time ever, customers have a choice.
Where is Conectiv Communications service available?
We currently offer service in Delaware (area code 302), Pennsylvania (area codes 610, 215 and 267), Maryland (area codes 410, 443, 310 and 240) and New Jersey (area codes 609, 732 and 856).
What can Conectiv Communications offer my business?
As a full-service telecommunications provider, we offer Local, Regional Toll, Long Distance and International calling; Centrex service; Enhanced Calling Features; Calling Cards; and High-Speed Data services. Our state-of-the-art technology and regionally based network allow us to offer unique, alternative telecom solutions to businesses.
How long after I sign up will my service be switched?
Within 4 to 6 weeks, your service will be switched to Conectiv Communications. Our billing cycle begins mid-month, so depending on what day your service was switched over, your first bill may be a partial bill.
Where do I call when I have a service question or problem?
You can call the same toll-free Customer Care number for all business services: 1-888-855-1900. Call us any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What calling features can I get for my business?
Conectiv Communications offers all the same calling features you are accustomed to getting from other carriers, at very competitive rates. You can select from a complete portfolio of Enhanced Calling Features or select Business Plus or Centrex service for a complete package.

If I switch to Conectiv Communications, how many phone bills will I receive?
That depends. If you select Conectiv Communications for local, regional toll and long distance, you'll receive only one bill (and you'll need to write only one check to pay for the service). If you purchase any services from Bell Atlantic, or choose a different long distance company, you could receive as many as three bills monthly.
Will I be able to keep my same phone number(s)?
In most cases, yes. We will make every attempt to maintain the phone numbers that you advertise (in the Yellow Pages, newspaper and magazine advertisements, and on company vehicles, etc.).
Will I be able to continue to have my number listed in the Bell Atlantic White Pages and the Yellow Pages?
Conectiv Communications will collect all White Pages information that you require for directory listings, and arrange for publication in the Bell Atlantic phone book. However, at this time we are unable to collect information and bill customers for their Yellow Pages advertising. You must continue to work with Bell Atlantic for this service.
How does Conectiv Communications provide facilities-based telephone service to businesses?
Conectiv Communications' fiber optic network has been built out to extend into existing switching facilities called Central Offices. Your local Central Office is where all the phone wires from homes and businesses in your area come together. It is in this Central Office that Conectiv Communications customers are connected to our network.

What is the 4-State Rate plan?
The 4-State Rate plan is offered exclusively by Conectiv Communications to businesses in our 4-state service territory. It consists of a low flat rate per minute for all toll calls to PA, NJ, DE and MD, as well as a flat rate for all long distance calls with the continental U.S.
What are the toll rates?
For customers who sign a 1-year contract with us, the rate is just 7¢/minute — any time — for toll calls to PA, NJ, DE and MD, and 9¢ for long distance calls within the continental U.S.
Customers who sign a 2-year contract will enjoy a 6¢/minute rate for toll calls to PA, NJ, DE and MD, and an 8¢/minute rate for long distance calls within the continental U.S.
Customers who sign a 3-year contract will receive a 5¢/minute rate for toll calls to PA, NJ, DE and MD, and a 7¢/minute rate for long distance calls within the continental U.S.
What are the local rates?
Our monthly charges for local access (dial tone) are priced to be 10% below Bell Atlantic's applicable tariffed rates for like services.
How do I qualify for these rates?
Be located in one of the following states/area codes, where Bell Atlantic is the Local Exchange Carrier:
- PA: 610, 215, 717, 570, 267, 484
- MD: 301, 240, 410, 443
- DE: 302
- NJ: 609, 732, 856
- Authorize Conectiv Communications to carry all of your local, regional toll and long distance telephone services.
- Sign a minimum 1-year contract with Conectiv Communications.
How does the 4-State Rate plan work?
The 4-State Rate plan is designed for the way that your business works. For example, if your business is in Wilmington, Delaware, you can call anywhere in the 4 states (PA, NJ, MD and DE) for one low rate, say, to Pittsburgh, PA, or Newark, NJ, for 7¢/minute. Toll calls to ANYWHERE in the 4-state area are one low rate per minute. (See "What are the toll rates?" question above.)
Can I stay with my current Long Distance carrier and get these rates from Conectiv Communications?
No. This plan is available only to businesses that authorize Conectiv Communications to carry all of their local, regional toll and long distance telephone services.
I have a business located in Pittsburgh, PA. Is that location eligible for this plan?
No. Currently, we do not serve businesses in the Pittsburgh area. (Please see "What do I need to do to qualify for these rates?" above.)
Will my Local calling area change with this plan?
No. Your local calling area will not change, but in some cases you will pay less for local calling through Conectiv Communications than through your current provider.
